2014 Resolutions: March Recap

I can't believe that we are already a quarter of the way through the year!  March has kinda zoomed by for me, it's been a busy month.  Let's see how I've been doing with my resolutions through this busy month:

1. Run 100 miles this year.
Well, I did a little better than last month.  I ran a total of  4.4 miles this month, bringing my total to-date to 9.78 miles.  That means I have 90.22 miles to go.  With 39 weeks left in the year I need to run about 2.5 miles a week to meet my goal.  Still doable I think... but I need to buckle down!  My big victory moment this month was that I finally ran my usual loop through twice.  We usually run the loop once and walk it once - my goal for April is to be able to run 3 loops by the end of the month. *Fingers crossed*

2. Get back to my wedding weight.
I haven't been tracking this very well.  We are definitely eating healthier and adding more and more veggies into our diet and cutting out more and more processed foods, but I have not been getting on the scale regularly.   I know I'm still a few pounds away from this goal.

3. Read 12 books.
I finished my "March book" today.  Voyage of the Dawn Treader just wasn't as interesting to me as the rest of the Narnia books have been.  I'm looking forward to finishing up this series and starting a new one.  Maybe the Divergent series that's so popular right now. :)

4. Read through one book together with Doad.
Womp womp.  We've hit that point that we do with all the books we try to read together and just come to a complete halt.  I'm a little bit frustrated about this.  Hopefully we can push through and finish this one.  My goal for this month is small: read one chapter.

5. Find a cleaning routine that works.
Still not into a routine, but I have been doing laundry regularly on my days off this month so I'm counting this as a success this month ;)  Also, I'm planning on doing some Spring cleaning this month - not exactly a routine, but I'm hoping it will jumpstart some new good habits.

6. Sell something from my online shop.
Nothing new on this subject.  Hubby finished the craft room lights though, so I will be in there much more this month.  My project this week is a baby shower gift for my sister-in-law.  Then maybe a couple new items for the shop.
7.  Go to a marriage conference.
Still looking for one.

8. Go on a date with one of my sisters each month.
March = check!  Jill's turn this month.  We went shopping at the mall for her birthday and had a blast!  We talked about everything from tattoos, to boys, to our awkward middle schools days.  We also found some awesome deals and both went home with a few new items for our closets.  This is one of my favorite goals that I've made for the year and I'm super thankful for the awesome sisters God has given me.

9. Learn Spanish.
This was a slower month.  I only made it to lesson 27 - so only 3 lessons this month.

So this month was kind of a struggle.  I definitely made an effort, but it was just a really busy month.  April is a little less busy so here's hoping that I can really step up my game and catch up in some areas.

Your turn, what goals are you hoping to achieve this month? This year?
I'd love for you to tell me about them in the comments below!

Star Crossed Episode 4 Recap

This was my favorite episode so far.  Lots of funny moments and I love that both the humans and atrians put aside their differences and fought together during the swim meet.  Tiff and I still can't decide what we think of Grayson and whether or not Roman will end up with Julia or Emery.   Who are you pulling for?

Sorry again for the weird lag in the video - I'm working on a fix, promise.

So let's hear from you now: Who do you trust/distrust?  Can you believe Roman and Sophia have a stepbrother?  What were your favorite moments?  Leave your thoughts in the comments below, we can't wait to hear from you! :)

KISS Lashes Application Tutorial

As promised, here is the false lash application tutorial.  I'm definitely no expert, but that's one of the reasons I made this video - if I can apply falsies, you can too!  :)  Give it a go and tell me what you think!

Star Crossed Episode 3 Recap

Whoopsies!  I got a little behind on my video recaps.  I guess things have been a little hectic lately.

My grandpa's having triple bypass heart surgery next month and I have been working through the details and trying to figure out if I should fly to Massachusetts to be there or not.  I ended up deciding not to go for now, but the rest of my family is going up there for Easter vacation so there will be plenty of loved ones by his side.

This past weekend was also quite busy.  Three parties in two days!  First was Jon and Jessie's engagement party.  We got to meet the rest of the bridal party and finally put some faces to the names we've been hearing.  It was a nice, chill evening with lots of laughs.  :) My kinda party.  Then on Sunday, we celebrated my sweet nephew's first birthday.  Can't believe he is one already!

He's still as adorable and sweet as ever, though!  In this picture he's laughing because we start clapping and cheering every time he starts clapping.  He thinks it's hilarious and I think it's about the cutest thing in the world.

Our second party for the day was my sister's 20th.  Woohoo!  We celebrated together earlier this week with a shopping trip to the mall - accompanied by one of our laughing attacks which end up with us laughing so hard we end up on the floor (sorry, fellow Forever 21 shoppers!)  Jill also celebrated by chopping all her hair off and piercing her nose, yeow!  She totally rocks it tho. :)

Ok, so you get the idea, it's been a little busy.  But fear not, the recap is here.  Watch below to see our thoughts on episode 3 and then leave a comment telling us what you thought!  You can check Tiff's blog out here and leave her some love too.  :)

PS.  I'm really sorry that this video is out of sync.  I'm trying to fix it, but google's not being very helpful today.  If anyone knows how to fix this: please help me! Thanks, bye!

J'adore Influenster Voxbox Review

So I'm really loving vlogging lately.  I'm sure you can tell since most of my recent posts have been vlogs.  I like how easy it is to create.  And I like that you can see a little bit more of my personality shining through.  ....And also it's easy.  ;)

Anyways, today's video is my review of the J'adore Influenster Voxbox.  Sorry the video quality is not the best.  I'll stop filming in my car ;)  This box was pretty big and packed full of awesome goodies.  You can watch me open it here and watch me review it below. :)

- Here's the link for the Environmental Working Group Cosmetics Database that I was talking about.  You can look up tons of products and see how they rate based on the ingredients included.

- I realize that it's a little hypocritical to talk about my picky-ness of the ingredients in some of the products and then to also talk about eating a whole pound of Hershey's kisses, but I'm going to give myself a pass today because... chocolate.  Hoepfully you will too? ;)

- I've posted links to all the products below in case you're interested.  They are affiliate links which just means that if you purchase something through that link, I get a tiny commission.  There is no change to the cost for you at all.  Thanks! :)

Hershey's Kisses

Boots Botanics Clay Mask

KISS "Looks So Natural" Flirty Lashes

John Frieda Frizz Ease 3 Day Straight Flat Iron Spray

Red Rose Lemon Chiffon Tea

Vaseline Men Spray and Go Body Lotion - Fast Absorbing

Stay tuned for my Lash Application tutorial and as always, if you're interested in joining the Influenster program let me know!  I'd love to send you an invite and tell you more about it.

Star Crossed: Episode 2

We're baaack! :)

Today, Tiff and I are talking about the second episode of our new guilty pleasure, Star Crossed.  We are a couple of weeks behind, so we are posting twice this week in order to get caught up.

We tried to keep it shorter this time and just hit the main points/our favorite moments.  We hope you guys enjoy and are watching along with us.  :)  See ya next time!

Star Crossed: Episode 1

Doing something a little different today.  :)  My friend, Tiff, (who blogs at Rolling With Laughter) has gotten me into a new show called Star Crossed and we've decided to try and do weekly recaps.  The short explanation of the show is that it's a modern day "Romeo and Juliet" with an alien twist to it.  For a better rundown, watch our recap below. :)

So, what do you think?  Tiff and I are having fun with it and we all need something new to watch now that The Bachelor is over...  ;)  I'm definitely intrigued and will be watching the next few episodes for sure.  If you're interested, you can find the show on the CW channel.

What's your guilty pleasure show?
I'd love to hear from you!

Dove Influenster Review

Okie dokie, artichokies!  (Sorry, I've had wine tonight...)

Here are my honest thoughts on the Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant/Deodorant that Influenster sent me to try out and review.

Also....
- Sorry that I kept trying to show you things to read even though it was all backwards.
- And sorry I kept saying "I don't know" while trying to explain simple things like scent and texture ... I don't know where my ability to use adjectives went.
- And sorry my dog interrupted in the middle - she's not feeling well and climbed up on the bed to cuddle with me.
- And lastly, what's up with me not smiling AT ALL until the very end of the video?  lol - I'm a happy/nice person, really.  Sorry for being so serious, I promise I like you all.

Anyways.... I hope you all feel super informed about this deodorant now.  And if you have more questions about how you can be an Influenster and get free stuff to try out, let me know!  It's lots of fun. :)  Comment if you're interested and I'll send you an invite. :)

That's all for now, folks! Ta ta!

2014 Resolutions: February Recap

Happy March, friends!  Time to check in on my yearly goals and see how I'm doing.  It feels like I haven't done much, but I'm hoping I'm wrong ;)

1. Run 100 miles this year.
Once again, I blame the cold for my lack of productivity in this area.  I'm hoping that will change soon, but seeing as how they're calling for another 5 inches of snow this weekend I doubt it.  My monthly total this month is a whopping 2.55 miles bringing my total to-date to 5.38 miles. Only 94.62 miles to go! Haha....

2. Get back to my wedding weight.
I've been adding healthier meals to our rotation, but since we're not working out tons I still haven't seen the weight go down at all. :/ My motivation is lacking just a little bit in this area.  I keep telling myself I'll be better when the weather's warmer.

3. Read 12 books.
Two books down, ten to go.  So far I'm still on track with this goal.  Yay!

4. Read through one book together with Doad.
We have been reading through a book called Community by Brad House.  We are about halfway through.

5. Find a cleaning routine that works.
Still working on this.  I think we're improving?? But I still have a long way to go.  If only cleaning was as entertaining as Facebook...

6. Sell something from my online shop.
This one's still kinda on the back burner.  Doad is installing lights in my craft room right now so things are kind of packed up so he can work in there.  When he's done, I'll be back in there working on a new idea :)

7.  Go to a marriage conference.
Still looking for one we can afford.

8. Go on a date with one of my sisters each month.
February = check!  This month I took my sister Jianna out for her birthday.  We went to starbucks, got Chinese food, and had a little picnic in my car lol.

9. Learn Spanish.
Still plugging away at this one.  I'm on lesson 24 now.   I'm actually learning new stuff instead of just reinforcing what I learned in high school which is kind of exciting.  Still got a long way to go, but considering how slowly it's gone the past few years, the progress I've made in the past two months is definitely an improvement! :)

Ok, so that was better than I was expecting. Besides cleaning and sewing, I think I'm staying on track with everything so far.  Yayyy!  Thank you, Blog World, for keeping me accountable. :)

Your turn, what goals are you hoping to achieve this month? This year?
I'd love for you to tell me about them in the comments below!
