Resolutions: June and July recap

I feel like every post I write here lately starts with an excuse as to why I haven't written in so long. It's getting old even for me so I'm just gonna ignore the fact that it's been two months and jump right in. Besides, those of you that read this blog "regularly" aren't even surprised by these absences, I know. ;)

June was the first month this year that I failed to meet one of my goals :/ I guess that disappointed me more than I realized seeing as how I completely skipped my monthly update (and am posting this one like two three weeks later than usual also...)  This is a combo post, I'll write down my stats for both June and July for you to laugh at and me to cry at. :p

Here we go...

1. Run 100 miles this year.
June running was non-existant.  I'm pretty sure if you could run negative miles that's what we would have done in June.  We planned on running on our vacation to Canada - instead we lounged around and ate cookies.  We planned on running when Doad got better - instead I got sick and spent a whole week in bed.  And honestly, July wasn't much better.  We ran 2.86 miles.  Boo.  :(  Our total to-date is now 21.94 miles leaving 78.06 miles to go.  That means in order to meet this goal by the end of the year we need to run 4.34 miles each week.  Haha, better get going!!

2. Get back to my wedding weight.
June = nope!  We ate tons of junk food on vacation but that's kinda part of vacation, right?  July, however, was a different story.  We decided to do a Whole 30 diet/reset and it went really well.  We stuck to clean eating and it was delicious!  I started it for other reasons, not really thinking about weight loss, but it happened anyway! :)  The day the diet ended I weighed exactly what I weighed on my wedding day.  A couple days later, I lost another 1.5 pounds!  Yay! This goal is accomplished.  :) New goal = maintain! ;)

3. Read 12 books.
June (book #6) = check!  I decided to read The Shack by William P. Young.  I read it in a couple of days on vacation and LOVED IT.  If you haven't read it yet, I'd recommend it.  Very interesting.  :)
July (book #7) = check!  This month I read It Starts with Food by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig.  This book kind of went along with the diet we did and it really helped to open my eyes to the "Why" behind all the stuff we were doing.

4. Read through one book together with Doad.
We made headway in our Community book.  We read some on our drive to Canada and are very close to finishing.  Yay! :)

5. Find a cleaning routine that works.
So this isn't really cleaning, but I've been doing a lot better in the meal planning area of my life.  Consequently, I think it has helped me stay on top of dishes a *little* bit better, although I'd still be a hopeless mess without Doad.  He's just amazing and so wonderful about helping me keep the house clean.  Don't know what I did to deserve him.  <3

6. Get new items listed on my online shop.
Oops!  Still haven't done this...

7. Go to a marriage conference.
Still looking :/

8. Go on a date with one of my sisters each month.
So here's the goal I missed for June.  I just ran out of time to go out with my sister J.  We were gone on vacation, and then I was sick, and then J was in training for the volunteer fire department.  *Side note: how awesome is my firefighter sister?!?*
July's date was quite an adventure.  I was on my way to meet up with Jill when I got a flat tire.  Thankfully, she was nearby and came to rescue me.  Haha, never a dull moment!

9. Learn Spanish
Ugh, so for all of June I kept forgetting to grab the second set of discs to put in my car.   I did no Spanish in June.  :(  July was a little better, but then my car got rearranged for some things and the discs got put in the trunk.  So it was only a little better haha.  But we are still making slow progress.

Ok, so there's June and July.  Pretty weak.  :(  But I'm still taking baby steps and that's what counts.  I'm still moving forward and that's what I'm trying to focus on.  Even if I don't complete my goals, I've accomplished a lot more in these areas than I would have without setting those goals.  Right?  ;)

How are you guys doing?  What are your goals for August?
